About Health Care for Women

We specialize in the primary care of women, especially in the area of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Infertility.  As such, we have obtained advanced education and training and are Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  We are fellows of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  We are a professional health care team.  Although you choose your own personal physician, one of us is always available for office care, hospital care, and telephone consultation.

Location 

We are located in Monterey County adjacent to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, across from the emergency department. Health Care for Women's address 250 San Jose Street Salinas, California 93901.

Sanders is married and has a grown daughter and a granddaughter.  He speed walks every morning and swims every noon.  He is an avid reader, a SCUBA diver, a performing bagpiper, and an accomplished pianist.

Doctor Nelson is a retired Navy Captain who has been with the practice for 32 years. He and his wife, Rin, enjoy their children and grandchildren, who now are in the "too numerous to count" range. They do, however, have an accurate tally on their horses, dogs, and cats.

Erica was born and raised in San Francisco. She attended U.C. Berkeley for her undergraduate education and then moved to Milwaukee, WI for medical school.

Tired of the long winters, she moved back to California and did her OB/GYN residency training at U.C. Davis.

Her husband is a pathologist, and works in Salinas as well. Since moving here, they have enjoyed this beautiful region, especially all the fresh fruits and vegetables available.

Erica has two cats and a dog. During her free time, Dr. Chan enjoys cooking, eating, traveling, and taking her dog out to enjoy all the dog-friendly activities here.

Erica is fluent in Cantonese Chinese.

Dr. Honegger is the newest member of our practice.  However, she is not new to our area, having been born in Monterey and attending schools in Pacific Grove. She is now returning with her husband and two children to begin her career in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
